Perry J. Cohen Foundation at Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair

January 05, 2017

In July of 2015, Art Miami founder Nick Korniloff and his wife Pamela Cohen’s’ 14-year-old son Perry Cohen tragically disappeared at sea along with his good friend Austin Stephanos. Nick and Pamela’s loss truly impacted me not just because I’m a parent but also because boating has been a passion of my family’s for generations. Last year, I was honored to create art for the Perry J. Cohen Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by his parents to support the advancement of boating safety, marine and wildlife education and preservation, teenage entrepreneurship and supporting the arts.

To kick of 2017, Nick and his wife Pamela invite us to honor their son at the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary fair from January 12-15 to view a series of portraits painted by street artist Al-Baseer Holly (ABH). ABH will donate half of the proceeds from sales of commissioned portraits to the Perry J. Cohen Foundation in hopes of raising enough money to establish the Perry J. Cohen Wetlands Laboratory at Jupiter Community High School, where the teen was set to begin school in the Environmental Research & Field Studies Academy just three weeks after his tragic disappearance. In addition to providing environmental education, the laboratory will feature a mural I plan to create to honor Perry’s life. If you wish to commission ABH to create a portrait of you or want to learn more about this amazing charity, read more here: http://artnt.cm/2igPSkk
