On the occasion of the Pablove Foundation Benefit Concert, November 21st at the Avalon in Hollywood, Studio Number One has created this poster series to commemorate the concert and benefit Pablove. The concert lineup includes Band of Horses, Sea Wolf, Tom Morello, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and more.
Pablove Benefit tickets are available through Ticketmaster and Pablove Benefit posters will be for sale at the concert and through the Pablove site [pablove.org]. All proceeds from both the concert and the posters will go directly to Pablove, which supports the pediatric cancer community at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, and the funds they raise go towards research and treatment as well as play activities and music and arts programs.
Pablove is named in honor of Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz, who passed away in June at the age of 6 after a 13-month battle with a rare form of cancer. “Pablove is an amazing, powerful organization,” says Studio Number One Creative Director Shepard Fairey. “Their work is so positive, and so personal on an emotional level. [Pablo’s father and Pablove founder] Jeff Castelaz’s candor and perseverance through Pablo’s illness and since are really inspiring to people battling cancer as well as their loved ones.”
The Pablove posters, designed by Studio Number One Art Director Kristian Henson, were built from hand-stamped woodblocks, inspired by mid-20th-century Scandinavian children’s books. Says Henson, “We wanted to capture Pablove’s message of joy, compassion and love in images that could be appreciated by children and adults alike.”
