This photo is from 2007 in London when I was doing my first solo show with StolenSpace Gallery. Some guys who operated a D.I.Y. art and performance space in Shoreditch offered me access to their roof so I could paste-up a large image of an AK-47 and M-16 with flowers in their barrels. I was making a lot of pro-peace imagery during the Iraq war. The roof spot had great visibility at the edge of the building, but that meant that the rickety wooden ladder had to be against the edge of the wall with a 3 story drop below. I was very careful to maintain my balance!
I love London and I’m happy to be back this week as part of the Beyond The Streets show at Saatchi Gallery opening on Feb 17. There are a ton of great artists in the show, so check it out if you are in London!
