I went with friends to see Iggy Pop at the Greek Theatre last night and it was EFFIN AWESOME! I have seen Iggy, with and without various incarnations of the Stooges many times over the years, but his backing band, including Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age sounded amazing. Iggy played a ton of great stuff from The Idiot, and Lust For Life, which are my two favorites of his solo albums. He also played Repo Man, a song I love, but he rarely plays, which was pretty surreal, because Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, who played guitar on the original recording, was sitting with us! Iggy is an inspiration in his energy and longevity… I guess Lust for Life wasn’t bullshit. Check out Iggy’s new record: Post Pop Depression… it is great and very much in the vein of Iggy’s collaborations with Bowie when they were hanging in Berlin.
