-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

By and through his Attorneys Bradley J. Friedman of the Law Offices of Bradley J. Friedman and Walter J. Piszczatowski of Hertz Schram P.C., Shepard Fairey issued the following statement today in reaction to Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway’s Order Granting Defendant’s Motion to Quash and Dismissing the case against him:

“I have faith in the legal process and feel relieved and vindicated that the charges against me have been dismissed. Even though this has been a very difficult situation for me, I am also grateful that it has seemingly inspired a richer dialogue about public art in Detroit. Detroit is an amazing city and I had great experiences interacting with the public and collaborating with Library Street Collective and Bedrock Real Estate. I am encouraged that art and creative culture are playing an important role in the city’s revitalization. Although my legal situation has been frustrating to deal with at times, the silver lining is that I was able to connect with passionate supporters who see art playing a beneficial and progressive role for the city of Detroit as it looks forward. I believe that most Detroiters see public art as a positive thing for the city and I look forward to being involved in more creative endeavors in Detroit in the future.”
