My team at Subliminal Projects is teaming up with MOCA this Sunday, June 2 from 12pm – 4pm for our #FOLKMEDIC workshop at MOCA Community Day! This year’s Community Day is centered around the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles, focusing on the youth population affected by the crisis, and how creative experiences can spark change. We invite our communities to join together for a day of service, discussion, and creative activation around this urgent topic impacting our city and its citizens. “Folk Medic” with Kris Chau, Hellen Jo, and Ako Castuera will be an extension of the three-woman exhibition last year at my gallery, Subliminal Projects. This workshop is a meditation on mask and zine making, providing accessible artistic ways for young people to connect and share their personal experience with each other, underscoring the idea that we are not isolated but on a collective path. Be sure to follow MOCA and visit their Facebook event page for more details! – Shepard
