Artists Band Together

October 28, 2020

TIME approached me to design the cover of their latest issue to reflect voting during Covid-19 in this 2020 election. When I was thinking of ideas for imagery that captured all of that, I remembered this photo that was shot for the Artists Band Together campaign. The actual bandana, titled “Our Hands – Our Future, 2020” was created to reflect causes that I care about. The designs within the bandana symbolize the importance of democratic values by encouraging folks to vote and use their voice. The mandala design has various images to show how intertwined everything is – voting, democracy, the environment, and our future.

This Sunday, November 1st will be the last day to support the #ArtistsBandTogether campaign! Don’t miss out on the bandana that I designed for the project and the 14 others by this group of world-renowned artists: Jenny Holzer, Victoria Cassinova, Juliana Huxtable, Alex Israel, Merritt Johnson, Christine Sun Kim, Barbara Kruger, Marilyn Minter, Christina Quarles, Umar Rashid, Xavier Schipani, Ririkrit Tiravanija, Luchita Hurtado, and Hank Willis Thomas! 100% of proceeds will go to voter-registration organizations Rise, Mijente & Woke Vote.
