I created this art piece, “Angel of Hope and Strength,” to celebrate the courage of healthcare workers, and generally symbolize the spirit of hope, strength, compassion, and resilience that we can all find in ourselves and share collectively. I created this art first in conjunction with Rhode Island’s Governor, Gina Raimondo’s project for RIArts.org, and then also launched globally with Amplifier. Now I’m releasing this art as a print on my site: store.obeygiant.com tomorrow, May 7th at 10AM PST! Proceeds from this print will benefit Direct Relief and The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), in cooperation with the Rhode Island Foundation and the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, is launching a fund to help Rhode Island artists who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is managed by the Alliance of Artists Communities in Providence. It’s a tough time for everyone right now, but we will all fare better if we summon the better angels of our nature. As always, thanks for caring. -Shepard
