June 21, 2022

ANNOUNCEMENT: Starting with this release, Obey and Verisart are excited to announce that digital Certificates of Authenticity are coming to the Obey Giant store. We have been issuing Verisart COAs since 2016 for fine artwork, but from Thursday, June 23, they will be included with limited edition prints bought at store.obeygiant.com. We’re developing a system to accommodate those who have purchased editioned prints from our webstore in previous years. We will make an announcement as soon as this is available, please stay tuned. More information can be found with FAQs below.

The AK-47 Lotus and AR-15 Lily large format serigraphs are inspired by Vietnam War protesters who would put flowers in the gun barrels of the National Guard who were brought in to suppress their protests for peace. I’m a pacifist, whether that means finding diplomatic solutions to prevent and avoid war internationally or finding diplomatic solutions to prevent and avoid gun violence at home. I’m not anti- Second Amendment, so trolls can calm down… I’m not interested in macho blathering, I just want fewer people to die unnecessarily. Brady United is doing good work preventing gun violence so they will receive a portion of proceeds from these two prints. Thanks for caring.

FAQs

What is a Verisart COA?

Verisart COAs are digital certificates registered on the blockchain. They include Shepard’s verified signature and show that the work is a genuine Obey Giant print. They show the history of ownership: when the print was purchased and if it has been sold. This is an important step in our fight against fraudsters and flippers. If you decide to gift or sell the work in future, you’ll need to transfer the COA to the new owner. If you’re considering buying an Obey work, always ask to see the COA.

How does it work?

If you buy a limited edition print on the Obey Store, you’ll receive two emails. The first is the usual order confirmation with the details of what you bought. The second email contains the details of your COA. From the email, you can click through to view the COA. If you want to print it, transfer it or see other COAs you’ve received, you’ll need to create a free Verisart collector account at verisart.com/signup.

Which works have COAs?

We’re currently offering COAs on fine artwork and limited edition prints. In future, we may offer COAs on other types works. We’re also looking into secure stickers that allow you to link your physical artwork or print with the digital COA.

Can I get COAs for prints I already own? Yes, we’re working on a system for anyone who bought prints from the store from previous years to request a COA for them. You will need the email address and order number from your original purchase. This should be available later this year and we’ll announce it here and by email.
