The work is being done in conjunction with Mural Arts, who says the art will be called Lotus Diamond. It’s scheduled to be completed by this Friday, August 8th. The organization posted this photo teasing the mural.
This is one of a handful of murals in Philadelphia by Shepard Fairey, who grew in prominence during the 2008 Presidential campaign when he printed this now-iconic image of then candidate Barack Obama. Stay tuned to Ticket for updates as the mural progresses.

UPDATE [8/5/2014, 2:18 p.m.]: Mural Arts just sent over an image of the Shepard Fairey design that will be painted on the building at 1228 Frankford Avenue. According to rep R.J. Rushmore, the building is being primed right now, and Fairey will begin working tomorrow. “This is the first of three scheduled projects that Shepard will create with Mural Arts in the coming year. The next one will be a project about DJ culture in Philadelphia.” Check out the image that will soon decorate this corner of Fishtown below:
